PFLAG Dayton had the honor and pleasure of supporting the Greater LGBTQ Her/History Awards On October 24th.  Current and past board members along with enthusiastic community members gathered to celebrate the history of the LGBTQ community in Dayton.

Our own Jan Couchman could have been recognized in several areas but was honored for her work with PFLAG Dayton in the Allies Activism category.
All who know Jan know how tirelessly she works to make the world a better place for the LGBTQ community and their allies.  Jan’s email signature tag is “Be ashamed to die before you’ve won some victory for humanity!”, a Horace Mann quote.  Jan and her quote have inspired many including me to do more to accomplish that goal.
Dan and Nancy Tepfer were also recognized in the Allies Activism category.  The Tepfer’s have a long history not only with PFLAG Dayton but also PFLAG National.
They were unable to attend the celebration as they were traveling to the PFLAG National Convention!  That fact speaks volumes about their passion and commitment and I was proud to accept the award on behalf of my first PFLAG friends.

The evening was not only inspirational but a challenge to all of us to keep moving equality forward. A big thank you to the 2019 steering committee members whose hard work was beautifully realized at the celebration.
